Beatrice : Just to whet your appetite, here's a quote from Wikipedia:
1979: Beatrice played punk rock music, being the first band in Hungary. Their music were cheap and aggressive. It was against the Socialist system and became highly popular, mostly among the working class young people. It was a unique Hungarian version of punk using folk elements . . . Fero was the absolute frontman, usually making comical and/or aggressive monologues or performances on stage calling himself the "Roach of the Nation". He became a "phenomenon" along with the band.

Brotherhood of Brass (magenta) : Frank London's Klezmer Brass Allstars
Barbara Flaska, PopMatters:
"Every player with this group has devoted a lifetime to klezmer. The repertoire is not merely the bulgars, doynes, freylekhs, and horas, but a rare rhythm known as "the Oriental," a reflection of the musical influence from Odessa and the Carpathians."
Boban Marković Orkestar
Boston Herald 09/2004:
"Imgagine the rowdiest, fastest rendition of "Hava Nagila" you've ever heard, zip it up with wild brass playing that would make a New Orleans marching band stop and stare, and throw in percussion so thunderous it shakes a hall, and then you've got an idea why the Orkestar gets a crowd into a frenzy."

Tiken Jah Fakoly : From wikipedia.org:
Tiken Jah Fakoly plays music "to wake up the consciences". His music speaks about many injustices done to the people of his country, and those over Africa. As such, many African listeners feel a deep affinity with his lyrics as Fakoly speaks for oppressed people. This connection has helped make Tiken Jah Fakoly a much-listened artist throughout the world. György Korda and Klári Balázs | 2009-08-15

György Korda and Klári Balázs : I still have a vinyl by Korda I inherited from my mother and I still remember those warm summer nights when with our windows open and the blinds propped up my sister and I listend to his singing carried over by the wind from a nearby open air stage of a restaurant in the 7th district. Damn, I am getting old. Wine Garden | 2009-08-15

Wine Garden : The Wine Graden is new in 2009. Hungary being a wine drinking nation it's only befitting and one wonders how the festival got away with not having a Wine Garden for 15 years ;^). There's a child inside us all | 2009-08-14

There's a child inside us all : This was one of the coolest installations this year, not that we felt consoled for the lack of a Luminarium. More than a dozen kinetic puzzle toy things installed for countless opportunities to test one's coordination and patience. » more Museum Row | 2009-08-14

Hanging on by a thread : a Stunt Panorama : Sanyi, one of our photographers is also a stuntman. We have been shooting aerial panoramas of Sziget Festival for some years using kites and poles, but this is the first time one of us actually hung themselves upside down at twenty meters, in order to take a series of aerial phoographs with the precision required to assemble thos into a seemless panoramic image.
Behold the result - a stunning overview of what constitutes pretty much the geographic center of Sziget Festival 2009. Waterpipes | 2009-08-14

Waterpipes : I think waterpipe themed panoramas will have to have their dedicated category soon, we have shot so many of these over the years. Then again, they are seemingly becoming as much of a staple for visitors as palinka. On the upside, after the pipe, you can still drive home. Page: [ 1 | 2 ]
