Radio Barkas | 2009-08-13
Radio Barkas : Radio Barkas is the tiny (and oh-so-cute) mobile radio station, broadcasting a groovy mix of 50s and 60s songs to the festival grounds. The music is played from a "condensed" Barkas car, which has all the Barkas djs need in it; turntables, music, speakers, and a smoke machine! Oi Va Voi | 2009-08-12
Oi Va Voi : From sziget.hu
London-based Oi Va Voi's debut album, Laughter Through Tears topped the world music radio chart for three months in 2003, and the record finished second out of 1040 nominees on the annual list. Not bad for a relative newcomer that had only existed for three years. However, it is not that surprising considering that we are talking about Oi Va Voi, who didn't even have a full-length record out, when they were already invited to play at such big festivals as Glastonbury. Quimby (Stage Left) : From last.fm:
Quimby has its root in one of the biggest industrial cities of western Hungary. The band members met during their high school years in Dunaújváros, Hungary at the end of the eighties and played covers of their favorite artists under the moniker October. After they fled from the city and the school, the band went on a short term hiatus until 1991 when they reunited in Budapest, where Quimby actually formed. » more Above the crowd for Pendulum | 2009-08-14
Above the crowd for Pendulum : Pendulum was supposed to play at last year's festival, but they had to cancel last-minute because of a fatal accident while transporting their gear. This year they made up for it, opening for The Prodigy. They dedicated their performance to the person who did not make it out of that accident.
I thoroughly enjoyed being in the back of the crowd, and I was clearly not the only one; it felt as if the whole island was drawn to the main stage area, leaving bars and other stages all but empty. They sure set the bar high for Prodigy to follow them up.
