Day 4 - The Hives [1] :

Tankcsapda 20th Anniversary Concert : Tankcsapda, Hungary's old time rockers comemorated their 20 year existence with an extravagant show the day before festivities began on the shipyard island in Budapest for Sziget 2009.

Eye contact with Papa Roach : California based Papa Roach seemed to feel right at home at the 35°C Sziget temperatures and brought a lot of energy to the stage. In this panorama I caught a brief moment of - erm - "eye contact" with lead singer Jacoby Shaddix. Rock on!

The Offspring : The Offspring was the second-to-last performing band on the main stage. Security surrounding the gig was tight, and I was lucky to get this panorama stitched from three seperate "moments" in the concert; When Dexter stepped down a level, I got my first shove to get out of the photographers' pit.

Other than getting shoved around a bit, the gig was enjoyable. It was fun to hear Dexter refer to the young adults in front as "kids".

Madness : Looking through the crowds, I often feel a bit old. The band Madness was formed when I was 1 year old. It is kind of amazing they still bring the same energy to their performances that I saw on tv when I was a little kid.

Day 5 - Faithless :

Reflecting on Sziget 2010 : The festival is all over now. Like ants gnawing away at their findings, workers are tearing down the stages. With the showers of the last night and the morning after, the island is given back to nature. But rest assured that there will be a Sziget 2011, and we'll be back to cover it!

Geszti/Novák During the day of Against Racism : Many of thos who chose to live on the island for Sziget 2009 have arrived by the night before the official opening. Others came only for the zero day concerts given by a huge number of who's who of the Hungarian Pop and Jazz world. The goal: raising awareness and inspire action through their day of Music Against Racism.
